WHAT LIES BENEATH by BRAD DOWNEY

30,00

Published on the occasion of the exhibition WHAT LIES BENEATH by Brad Downey, presented from April to June 2026 at Lo Studio Design by SpazioC21, as part of the Festival di Fotografia Europea 2026. The appropriation of copyright, the interrogation of authorship in the work of art, and the use of images created by others as the basis for new productions —all these elements converge within the body of work What Lies Beneath by Brad Downey. These works, beyond evoking the very etymology of the term “photography”—writing through light—restore vitality to the image’s inner essence, casting light once more on what had been concealed. In doing so, they open a broader discourse on the governance of intellectual property within the art world, at a moment when the advent of Artificial Intelligence further complicates an already intricate terrain.
